Nothing says “back to normal” like meeting up with your friends for dinner and drinks at your favorite crowded, poorly-ventilated restaurant or watering hole. But don’t get your hopes up, because that’s not going to happen anytime soon.

Even if you’re fully vaccinated, even if you’ve had a booster, even if you’re low-risk — young and free of chronic illnesses — we can’t go back to those days because no one’s around to grill your grouper, bring you a beer, deliver your dahl, or serve up your sushi. They pandemicked paradise, and nobody wants to work anymore.

When people can get money for nothing, they’re sure not going to work for it. People are lazy and they take advantage. At least, a certain kind of people will. That’s the Republican’s explanation for the great resignation. Of course, their guesses aren’t always right.
